The Eleventh DoctorMatt Smith, a relatively unknown actor, has been tapped to play Doctor Who, one of the most iconic figures in science fiction, following David Tennant's departure at the end of the year. Smith, 26, is also the youngest actor to ever play the part, but the producers assured that based on his audition, Smith is more than capable to portray the complex and multilayered character. 10:59 - 2009-Jan-3 - comments {6} - post commentAnd we're off...http://www.thebigp.net/2009/01/and-were-off.html06:06 AM - January 2, 2009 - comments {1} - post comment2008 - The year that wasn'thttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/2008-year-that-wasnt.html10:37 PM - December 31, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentRandomnessA new cafe has opened it's doors in my city. Seems like a nice place. I'm not sure what they mean with their slogan, "Would you like to see your salad tossed", but the tea was good.On Christmas Day, my brother gave me a nice, juicy, roasted turkey. I named him Gustav. Gustav has proven to be a great source for nourishment. Five days and he still has a lot to give. Good chap, that one. After three days of walking endlessly in post Christmas sales, I am about to receive my payment, in the form of a massaging foot bath. Which we got for free when we forgot it in the shopping trolley and the clerk didn't notice it. Free foot baths, huzzah. We got word today that the apartment we've had our eye on for a few weeks is ours if we want it. Going to check it out next week, but most likely we'll take it, seeing as it's a nice area and an astonishingly low rent. So looks like we're moving in together. New Year's Eve looks to be a good one. We got big plans. We're gonna set up the bedroom so we can stay in bed all day long, drink gin fizzes, champagne, eat all the yummy and unhealthy stuff we've bought, and watch movies all day long. In bed. With sex. And the movies. Champagne. 11:53 - 2008-Dec-29 - comments {8} - post commentA Holiday Summary thus farhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/holiday-summary-thus-far.html05:59 AM - December 29, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentChristmas ShenanigansHo ho ho. Ho.I'll blog about our last week's spa trip later on, but now on to Christmas stuff. We went over to my brother's for Christmas Eve. Food was, as it tends to be on Christmas, bloody brilliant. Ham, turkey, fishy fishes, fish eggs, stuff with other stuff in them or on top of them. Yummy nosh. And yummy wine. Mulled wine and gifts. I got a drinking / board game, a bunch of socks, a two pound chocolate box, tea tree oil, a picnic/cooler box and a big slab of cold smoked salmon. And then there was Twisty's present. Which was a 12 inch Doctor Who action figure. I was suppose to go to bed with it, but my girlfriend decided against it. But it's grand. Even has a little sonic screwdriver. And on Christmas Day morning my girlfriend gave me one last gift, Lonely Planet's Guide to London. A book which shall be quite useful come spring time. Later last night we had a little picnic in the living room. We camped out on the floor, ate a ton of yummy leftovers, and watched all the Shrek movies. Today, sadly, we will have to go to dinner over at my parents' house, which is bound to be a drag. Most of my brothers and sisters will be there, which in turn translates in to 7 little children running around the place. Dear Buddha, let there be vast amounts of brandy. I do love Christmas, but I am always glad when it's over. Drives me mental. 01:55 - 2008-Dec-26 - comments {4} - post commentAll Summer Longhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/all-summer-long.html06:04 PM - December 25, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentIdle Holiday Thoughtshttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/idle-holiday-thoughts.html05:53 AM - December 22, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentA few items of businesshttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/few-items-of-business.html04:48 AM - December 19, 2008 - comments {2} - post comment6 dayshttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/6-days.html05:12 AM - December 18, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWhat I'm dealing withhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/what-im-dealing-with.html10:01 PM - December 14, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentGordonI has purhcased... luggage. Is black, gots turquoise trimmings, and wheels and stuff. I shall name him, and his name shall be... Gordon. And despite his turquoise trimmings, Gordon is not just for show, he's a working lad. His first task is to haul my stuff when me and the missus go on our little pre-Christmas getaway next week. Three days at the luxurious Kalev Spa and Hotel in the heart of Tallinn, just a few minute walk from the Old Town. Three days of massages, hot saunas and jacuzzis. Not to mention good grub in the many fine restaurants in the Old Town. I think this will charge my batteries sufficiently, so I can spend the Christmas with my family. 04:16 - 2008-Dec-12 - comments {8} - post commentPutting your best foot forwardhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/putting-your-best-foot-forward.html06:40 AM - December 11, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentEnough, just enoughhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/enough-just-enough.html03:34 AM - December 8, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentThe Change Continueshttp://bitzky.blogspot.com/2008/12/change-continues.html11:55 AM - 5 December 2008 - comments {0} - post commentThings that are nice to knowhttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/things-that-are-nice-to-know.html05:50 AM - December 5, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWhat ever happened to having class?http://www.thebigp.net/2008/12/what-ever-happened-to-having-class.html03:45 AM - December 3, 2008 - comments {2} - post commentThanksgiving weekend ponderingshttp://www.thebigp.net/2008/11/so-its-end-of-long-weekend-and-man-what.html03:47 AM - December 1, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentI'm A Doctor, Not An Imperial Spherical Torture DeviceAnd then there's Bob Goldstein...
