If you watch two youtube videos today, let it be these:
First, I give you the world's worst music video. Now, I know there are some masterpieces like elektronik, supersonik, but this one is actually unintentionally so abysmal that it is a work of art. I am proud to say that it is indeed from Finland. Danny is a legend here in Finland, and I think you can see why.
And secondly, I give you The Worst Fight Scene Ever. Only I don't think it can be worst, since I have seen so many Godfrey Ho ninja movies... Pure class. It's brilliant.

well
as for the first, pure euro-genius, it's definitely in the 'so-bad it's good' category. The second I watched first time around! It has a weird memory / association thing going on, so I'm sure I must have watched it some time in about 1972. Egads!
Great!

I'm just jealous - my memories of 4 or 5 contain the not quite so cool reshowing of the likes of 1-million dollar man and 6-million dollar woman dubbed in German.. Although Knight Rider is pretty darn memorable.
annmi - 12:36 - 3.10.2007
...
It was the 6 million dollar man and Lindsay Wagner was the Bionic Woman. Lee Majors was like the COOLEST when I was at school.
Coincidentally there's a new series of Bionic Woman that started last night so I got that ready to watch. Slade seemed to think it would be good; and he's usually right.
Star Trek was always the best in the early 70s. One of the things that always stayed with me was when my mother was having a conversation with one of her friends.
"Imagine," she says, "if you were an actor and then you were forced to admit that you were in a really appalling show like Star Trek!!"
I was like "WTF! How spazzy is that!" I still think the same :)

Wow, my memory really has gone. The new Bionic Woman - is it remotely as good as the old stuff? I loved their "high tech" computers and stuff which were big enough to fill a whole room.. Or maybe I'm confusing that with some other series. The best part of course is the special sound effect whenever they do anything bionic.
I always found it strangely ironic that whenever they wanted to show them running at super-bionic running speeds, they in fact illustrated it by slowing down the video to slow motion.
Hey, I'd be proud to have been in star trek.. (Possibly because I would never have gotten another role since :P)
I REALLY enjoyed watching The Next Generation.

Well I haven't watched it yet. I've err... "acquired" it though and it's sitting on a nice media pc somewhere all ready to be streamed to my TV when I'm ready to see it.
You should check out these:

That's everything you'll ever need to experience the ultimate in TV watching joy. Trust me, I'm a doctor.
Anywho, I also enjoyed ST:TNG ; some of the spin-offs less so, but I never was particularly averse to watching the odd episode of DS9 whilst I ate my tea on a Saturday before the pub :P They don't seem to be making any of the Star Trek stuff these days, maybe that's for the best.

Thanks!
The last link is familiar. I've been looking for pages like those.. for educational purposes only, of course. *cough cough* *looks around for an escape route*
Thanks for the links!

Annmi, why would you let people know how badly we suck? There is a reason why we don't talk about Danny in public, it's a dirty secret, like having sex with your sister while drunk.
Untitled Comment
Let me tell you a secret, Dante... I enjoy making fun of Finland... :) I don't much like living here and many people are nice, but the attitude of superiority that many people near Helsinki seem to have is so annoying.
"It's a lottery win to live in Finland" is the very epitome of that which I find annoying.

Oh I agree with everything you just said, but dragging Danny in to the open is just going too far.

It's ok, he's in Sweden. He has to be given SOME form of mirth to make up for it.

Rivals.
Hehe that first movie just make me laugh really...how those people in red and white walking around...it's just funny.
What's also funny and at the same time a little saddening is that all countries seem to have at least one rival. In this case Sweden and Finland. Like Holland and Belgium I guess...we call them dumb and they call us greedy hmhm. Like a one dutch joke about belgium. In Belgium the government decided that every car has to have a fourth pedal next to gass, brake and clutch. It's to pump up the airbag. And the only belgium one I know about the dutch: You know what a dutchman does when he is thristy? He goes to the shop stares at the expensive stuff in the windows and drinks his own drool.
You guys stereo type each other as well?
As to Star trek...I am a little of a star trek geek...I kinda saw most episode's from all the series expect well...the original one...that was mostly before my time. I grew up with the next generation.
And btw They indeed not making any new series atm. They stopped after there new series called Enterprise which was set before Kirks era totaly flopped. Tbh I didn't liked Enterprise much either...was to much of the same and had nothing new in it. The strenght of star trek used to be that they came with new idea's like the transporter, the holodeck and the replicator.
They are making a new movie though. Which is about Kirks and spocks younger years. But tbh if they really want to bring new life to Star trek they should come with new idea's and set a new series after the next generation era. To my opinion anyway.

Rivals
I wouldn't say Sweden and Finland are rivals. It's more like friendly bickering. We may make fun of each other, but at least in the past, when it has really come down to it, Sweden has been very helpful to Finland, even if retaining a neutral stance. Sheltering children, volunteering to defend Finland, and stuff. Just the icehockey matches get a bit serious, but who cares? Same thing with all sports fans.
Sure, you got random idiots who can't stand Swedes or who can't stand Finns, but you get those everywhere.
annmi - 10:42 - 11.10.2007
...
Every country has its rivalries. For the English it's the Germans.
For the Scottish, the English.
For the Argentines, the English.
For the Welsh, the English.
For Australians, the English.
For the Irish, the English.
Are you seeing a pattern here?
jeremy - 12:51 - 11.10.2007
Friendly rivals
Ohw Belgium and Holland really have a friendly kind of rivalry. We are friendly to each other. Just in jokes we tease each other and stuff. With the north part anyway. We don't have much with the south part. Those are more like Frenchy's they also speak Waals which is much like french. Where the north part Vlaanderen speaks a language very simular to dutch.
Also as you know we are in a colalition of some sort called the benelux together with Luxembourgh. Belgium and holland did the EK Football together for example a few years back.
As it comes to rivalry in sports. Most football fans see the Germans as the real rivals. I don't really care I am not a football fanatic, also I find it silly how much hate there is sometimes vented with the sport against germany for example.

The whole friendly rivalry between Finland and Sweden first began when man discovered fire. And the swedes have been jealous at us ever since.

Aye the English! =P
