Mini-updateFirst of all, I would like to share with you this great little link I found. It contains some true words of wisdom. I bestow upon thee some of my favorites. The rest can be found here.
I went to another interview today. This was to get into a course.. they only accept 16 applicants, they said.. and 42 have applied. Luckily about six have said they won't come and others yet didn't show up. I really really hope I get it - this could be a really good break. I hope my good luck holds up... The interview seemed to go well, and I know I wasn't the worst option in the group (terrible as that sounds) despite being the only one under 40. The group-interview brought up a subject that really really really pisses me off: Age Discrimination. What the hell is this bullshit about hiring only young people!? Who are these employers? Complete IDIOTS? Why would they pass up on an experienced older person who actually wants the job because they want to do the work instead of some inexperienced young person who is just looking for the money and will pocket it and run as soon as they find a better opportunity!? God it pisses me off. Yeah, yeah, I know, if they hired ONLY old people I would stand no chance, but I don't care. It's unfair this way too. Why!? Is it because they're "not as pretty"? Do they think they're outdated and don't know the newest stuff? WELL, who cares?! Not all young people do either PLUS they don't have the experience of OLD stuff under their belt. Besides, not all 'old' people are behind either! There are lots of great courses for catching back up with modern technology if they should fall behind from being unemployed for a decade. "But they're all going to retire anyway..." Uhh... No, not necessarily. Besides, how the hell are you going to keep that youngster tied down? He might just run away anyway for more money! It's.. just.. crap. And it really..really...really frustrates me. Ok. Rant over. I find out in three hours if I got into the course or not. I'll phone in four because I don't feel like waiting a week to find out by mail if I'm in or not, and to give the poor lady some time to recover. 12:47 - 14.9.2006 - post comment
