Felted CatThis needle-felting business is faster than I thought.I finished felting the cat! WOOHOOO! If anyone has ever wanted to make a voodoo doll and stick needles into it, this might be the hobby for you. It involves taking some wool, forming it roughly with your hands, and then poking it a gazillion times with a needle. The needle's tip isn't smooth - it has a rough, layered edge which then takes puny 'strings' of wool and presses them wherever you poke them. So you compress it by poking it tons. I made my kitty from a bought set, but if anyone else is interested, I might post instructions on how to make this. Please bear in mind this is my first attempt ever at this felting stuff... and I've always been sorta crappy at sculpting so he came out a little lopsided. I don't mind though. Looks cute.
Posing in this picture are the model and the final result. Sorry about the fuzziness, it's half past ten and there's no decent light anywhere to be had. The model wouldn't sit still. I might buy a pair of blue eyes for the cat tomorrow if I see any at the faire. 10:23 - 2.9.2006 - post comment
